pepperedBLACK® is an Aboriginal owned and operated company based in Alice Springs.

pepperedBLACK® was established by Des Rogers, a Southern Arrernte man who has been in business in the region since 1994, and has an established track record for managing successful enterprise and providing training and employment opportunities for young Indigenous people.

pepperedBLACK® business strategy involves creating a brand and acting as a business incubator for a range of local Aboriginal groups that have the ability to develop successful enterprises in Alice Springs.

pepperedBLACK® is continuing to grow, expand, and morph as ideas, innovation and solutions are created in response to community needs.

This logo has a strong artistic and cultural base. The pepperedBLACK® aspiration is to have a high level of Indigenous participation shared with a multicultural group of staff, friends and mentors, hence the pepperedBLACK® connotation. Also the cultural belief within the Pertame clan is that the stars at night are a reflection of the earth. This theme is followed through in the “speckling” of different colours in the logo. The swirling and mixture of colours in the bottom left hand corner reflects the “fusion” of ideas.

The logo idea has been developed to represent the many layered approach to business development, the multi cultures involved in inspiring the concept, and multicultural nature of the business drawing from the knowledge, experience and life learning of many people. The name and logo have been developed in close consultation with Des’s Southern Arrerente elders who have a deep understanding and knowledge of law and culture with his clan group “Pertame”.

The name pepperedBLACK® has also been registered as a business and trademarked in three different categories.
